Paediatric surgical support (27th April, 2026)
On 27th April, 2026, Orunsii Welcare Foundation in collaboration with the Office of The First Lady, held another Pediatric Surgical Support Initiative at the Banquet Hall, Office of the First Lady, Alausa, Lagos. This was part of efforts to expand endowment fund support for indigent pediatric surgical cases across Lagos State.
The intervention extended support to fourteen hospitals, including General Hospital Gbagada, General Hospital Alimosho, General Hospital Lagos, General Hospital Badagry, General Hospital Orile-Agege, General Hospital Surulere, General Hospital Ikorodu, General Hospital Ifako-Ijaiye, General Hospital Isolo, General Hospital Ijede, General Hospital Eti-Osa, General Hospital Somolu, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi.
A total sum of ₦70 million was earmarked for the fourteen beneficiary hospitals under the initiative. As an initial intervention, each hospital received a ₦1 million donation in support of its pediatric ward while long-term endowment plans are being finalized.
The sustainability plan involves placing ₦5 million for each hospital into an endowment scheme, with the annual interest generated from the investment to be disbursed to the hospitals yearly in support of indigent pediatric surgical cases.
