The Orunsii Welcare Foundation is committed to supporting mental health and the community. Established to Care.
The Orunsii Welcare Foundation is a not-for-profit organization focused on supporting vulnerable individuals, especially children, adolescents, and the elderly, as well as communities facing societal, health, and environmental challenges. The name “ORUNSII” symbolizes “open heavens,” reflecting the foundation’s commitment to uplifting and providing relief to those in need. The foundation’s work includes a wide range of activities and projects aimed at addressing issues like child abuse, mental health, drug abuse, and providing foster care. It also focuses on environmental advocacy and education about waste management and cleanliness.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation has placed a significant emphasis on mental health challenges, which have surged globally. In Lagos State, Orunsii has initiated community-based mental health programs to research and address mental health perceptions and treatment-seeking behaviors.

Our mission
To Promote Health Awareness Through Advocacy, Education, Training And Support.
The name “Orunsii” derives from the Yoruba language, commonly spoken in Nigeria. In Yoruba, “Orun” generally refers to the heavens or the celestial realm, while “sii” may mean “open” or “reveal”. Therefore, “Orunsii” could be interpreted as “open heavens” or “revealed heavens,” symbolizing a sense of enlightenment, hope, or spiritual connection.

Our mission is to promote health awareness through advocacy, education, training, and support, with a vision of inspiring happiness and stability in health conditions. It aims to change attitudes and behaviors towards mental health, reduce stigma, improve understanding among students, support the elderly, and promote environmental cleanliness through various campaigns and partnerships.
Orunsii Welcare Foundation partners with several organizations, including the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State, Alimosho General Hospital, local government offices, and the Lagos State Health Service Commission, to further its mission.
Campaigns led by the foundation focus on preventing social vices like school bullying, promoting early detection and treatment of mental and physical disorders, and implementing school-based mental health prevention programs across Lagos State.
The foundation also runs fundraising initiatives to support its mission, offering different funds for investment opportunities aimed at addressing mental health, elderly care, and anti-bullying efforts.
The Orunsii Fund is part of the foundation’s strategy to manage programmatic funds that advance its vision, ensuring those at risk of mental health issues, bullying, and elderly care needs have the opportunity to live healthy and prosperous lives.
This comprehensive approach by the Orunsii Welcare Foundation illustrates its dedication to addressing a broad spectrum of societal and health issues, with a strong focus on mental health, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
